Eating Healthy During The Holidays

Dec 14, 2023

Most people struggle to eat healthy during the Holiday season. In order to deal with all the extra calories consumed, some might take up extra cardio sessions at the gym, while others may make it a New Year's Resolution to lose the weight later. But there is a third option.

You could simply eat healthy!

Its actually just as easy as it sounds. You can eat less, eat strategically, or even cook your own healthier versions of Holiday meals instead of the traditional unhealthy versions your friends and family normally make.

When eating at family dinners, I tend to try a little bit of everything. This allows you to appear as though you are filling up, without the need to actually consume a large amount. Plus it keeps everyone happy that at least SOMEONE ate Aunt Cathy's squash casserole!

Eating strategically can be a bit more challenging than simply eating less. If your family eats turkey, maybe go for some breast instead of an entire leg. Even if the breast is always dry because Grandma overcooks it, and the only good part of a cooked turkey is the leg! Or maybe you can skip meat completely, and focus on healthier side dishes.

Anything that you would normally saute can be cooked in an air fryer without adding all that oil! Instead of dousing things in mayonnaise, try using non-fat Greek yogurt (protein!). Maybe even swap it for a plant-based version.

Keeping up your health fitness routine during the Holidays can be a struggle, but it doesnt have to be as difficult as we pretend it is. It just takes a little bit of forethought. Or, you can always hit up the gym on January 2nd and do some cardio!
